MugUp Conversations

7 PM - 9 PM

AUGUST 9TH 2017

SOUTH NAKNEK LIBRARY

Thanks to all of the community members at Fishtival that visited our booth to learn more about out the collaboration of Tundra Vision, Alaska Association for Historic Preservation and Our Sustenance for Life is working in collaboration with Trident Seafoods to collect, preserve and share the narratives of the cannery people—the company personnel, local residents, fishermen, and chiefly, the cannery workers, whose activities are reflected by and embedded in the industrial landscape contained within the historic <NN> Cannery property at South Naknek, Alaska.

Mug-Up is the colloquial word for coffee break and is expression used only in canneries. Mug-Up fueled cannery workers with caffeine and pastries, provided a respite from the monotony of the slime line and momentarily brought people together from around the world.

Join us for conversations about cannery life and working in Bristol Bay. Please bring photographs, artifacts, stories and recipes. Featuring Bob King, Trident Seafoods, Alaska Association of Historic Preservation, National Park Service, Tundra Vision, Steelbird Productions & Our Sustenance Life.
